Vaginal Dryness Treatment
What is Vaginal Dryness?
Vaginal dryness is a condition that all women complain about from time to time. Except for sexual intercourse, the walls of the vagina are in contact with each other and are a cylinder structure, while the walls are separated from each other by the effect of secretions during intercourse. Vaginal dryness most often manifests itself as pain and burning during intercourse.
The vagina has a natural secretion, some women even feel uncomfortable with this natural secretion and try to remove it, while all the prevention efforts can damage the vaginal flora and cause the discharge to turn into an infection. Bartholin glands at the entrance to the vagina cannot function and can cause vaginal dryness just when it is necessary (sexual intercourse).
Causes of Vaginal Dryness
The fluid formed in the vagina during sexual intercourse is secreted by the glands of the vagina. These liquids, which make the vagina slippery, are odorless and colorless. With the secretion of these fluids, sexual intercourse takes place more easily. In cases where fluids are not secreted, vaginal dryness occurs and sexual intercourse becomes painful.
The most common and important cause of vaginal dryness is menopausal changes characterized by decreased estrogen hormone. Apart from menopause; birth and breastfeeding period, vaginal infections, some drugs used (cancer drugs, antidepressants, birth control pills, etc.), radiotherapy, chemotherapy, washing the inside of the vagina, intense stress and anxiety disorders, sexual reluctance, low sexual arousal. Conditions such as the discomfort of the glands cause vaginal dryness.
How Is Vaginal Dryness Treated?
“How does vaginal dryness go?” This question is frequently asked by patients. In a woman who comes with a complaint of vaginal dryness, the cause of the dryness should be determined first and the treatment should be planned accordingly. While estrogen creams and drugs are used in the treatment of vaginal dryness due to menopause, if there is vaginal dryness due to infection, the infection should be treated first. If the reason is related to sexuality, it should be directed to a sexual therapist, preferably together with the partner. Also, lubricating gels can be used. The important thing here is to choose gels (preferably water-based) suitable for the pH of the vagina. In recent years, treatments with radiofrequency, laser and vaginal PRP are also performed in the treatment of vaginal dryness, especially in women in the menopausal period. In particular, the PRP method stimulates the cells in the vagina, making the vagina younger and moister. There are nourishing and rejuvenating factors produced by the body in the PRP liquid. It is applied 3 times with an interval of one month.
At the same time, laser + prp is used in combination in the treatment of vaginal dryness in line with the needs of the patient and gives effective results.
